With offices in 30 countries and projects in more than 100 countries, Conservation International partners with governments, companies, civil society, Indigenous peoples, and local communities to help people and nature thrive together.POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Bolivia, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Costa Rica, or ColombiaThe successful candidate will be considered a subject-matter expert, have excellent logic and problem-solving skills, and a drive to make a difference. We need an individual that puts the team before themselves. The Director will be responsible for removing impediments from their team while promoting self-management and constantly improving our standards of work. The candidate will also need project management skills to plan, execute, and finalize traditional projects according to deadlines, quality, usability, and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. They will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.RESPONSIBILITIESLiaison & Communication
  • Serve as liaison between technical and non-technical departments.
  • Communicate with other management, developers, product managers, and technical support specialists on product issues.
Project Planning
  • Organize and facilitate project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other meetings.
  • Track and communicate progress.
  • Maintain process documentation.
  • Ensure the teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
Management
  • Participate proactively in developing and maintaining team standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Identify and remove impediments, and prevent distractions.
  • Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution.
  • Empower the team to self-organize.
  • Develop best practices.
Operational Management
  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

QUALIFICATIONSRequiredFormal Education & Certification
  • Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design or computer science, or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 7 or more years of professional experience.
  • Must be a Certified Scrum Master
Knowledge & Experience
  • 7 or more years of project management and/or agile experience.
  • Thorough understanding of agile methodologies, values, and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Ability to understand technical issues.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (i.e. Jira, Monday.com, etc)
  • Ability to communicate in English (verbally and written)
